Mike Hodges returned to the Queen fold in April of 1982, to direct the video to Body Language, the second single from the Hot Space album. The song, like the album itself, was a brave move into a new direction for the band, first hinted at with Another One Bites The Dust. The disco-fueled tracks on the album proved to be Queen's downfall in America, despite the album being, in parts, heavier than anything on the previous album, The Game. The single itself was, like all the singles from the album bar Under Pressure, not a major commercial success, but still reached a respectable number 25 in the UK, and number 11 in the US Billboard charts.

The video for the single was highly controversial at the time, though by today's standards it is somewhat tame. Filmed in Toronto, Canada, it featured a number of attractive dancers writhing around a dark steamy set, whilst the band remained fully clothed amidst the raunchy behaviour. Freddie is clearly seen to be enjoying himself, which is more than can be said for the rest of the band! In fact, the concept was clearly his, and Freddie was even involved in casting the dancers, from the big buxom ladies in the showers to the girl who falls into the enormous cake.

However, despite the dancers limited amount of clothing being just enough to cover any risque body parts, and the addition of arrow graphics to cover up the action still further, the video was banned by MTV and several other stations in America, and was, perhaps understandably, not broadcast on Top Of The Pops. As a result, it was very rarely seen, available only on a promo VHS named Sexy Shorts until its inclusion on the Greatest Video Hits 2 DVD in 2003.
