Additional Information

• Reportedly, this song started life as 'Another Piece Of My Heart' in 1976 when Rod Stewart visited Queen during sessions for A Day At The Races, and was then properly recorded in September 1983 during sessions for The Works in Los Angeles, with Rod Stewart (again) and Jeff Beck visiting the studios. When it came time to construct the song in 1993, the remaining band members took Freddie's vocals from the 1983 session (only 90 seconds' worth) and arranged a song around that, with Roger writing most of the words.
• An early version featured the backing vocalists singing additional lines over the intro chorus. Rumors abound that these were removed at the insistence of Janis Joplin's estate, who felt it was too similar to her 1968 recording of "Piece Of My Heart", but that song was written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns and not Joplin. This early version nevertheless was leaked onto some US promo cassette copies of the album, as well early Mexican and Dutch CD releases.
