Following Bohemian Rhapsody was always going to be tricky, yet Queen managed to pull it off expertly with the release of the John Deacon penned You're My Best Friend, a somewhat more pop orientated song than Queen's previous singles, and featuring John on electric piano for the first time.

For the video, Queen again called on Bruce Gowers, director of the Bohemian Rhapsody clip, to make a video for the song that could be played on shows like Top Of The Pops, as the band had realised videos could get them out of having to put in an actual appearance. The clip was shot in April of 1976 in a disused barn at Ridge Farm Recording Studios, Surrey, which at the time was situated next to a pig farm, and as a result the barn was infested with flies.

One aspect of the video that raised its standard was the decision to use hundreds of candles to provide natural background lighting. This apparent homage to Stanley Kubrick's love of such lighting did have its problems though, not least of which was the enormous heat which only intensified the fly problem. Also, keeping all of these candles lit proved tricky, but that did not deter Queen from using even more candles in their Who Wants To Live Forever promo ten years later.
